Villains

VILLAINS

It’s quite sad that I’ve stopped listening to OPM (rock) music back in mid-2006, all the up and rising bands has the same sound for me mimicking what is profitable in mainstream. It doesn't help that the albums from the non-rock genre (especially pop) was nothing but revived songs put together.

After the band’s six-year hiatus, the long awaited album was released last December 2008. Villains has been worked on by the band during 2007, it’s pretty unique from the other albums because they collaborated through online to build each song. The band was scattered all around the world at that time but still came up with this satisfying album except for Wolfe Gemora that is. That’s the only downside of the album in my opinion is not having their drummer on the project.

Album Tracks:

  • RP Deathsquad

  • Ibrahim

  • N.M.E.

  • Soap

  • (Hidden Track)

  • John of the Cross

  • Kung Gusto Mo Pa?

  • Diaspora Mama

  • The Shaft

  • Novus Is Burning (album version)

  • Ladies & Gentlemen

The heavy sound, deep lyrics, nostalgic arrangement, and the epic voice of Basti Artadi; everything you've always loved from the band has been resurrected in this new album. Ten songs and a hidden track to remind you how OPM heavy rock sounds like. I won't tell you if the album rocks or not since I’d probably be biased because I’m a Wolfgang fanatic. But 11 nominations in the current NU107 rock awards should mean something.

Soap, Kung Gusto Mo Pa?, Ibrahim are three of the songs that are considered for the Song of the year category. Here’s a glimpse of them:
